NGCOA Adds Directors to its Leadership Team

Charleston, SC (March 8, 2018) - The National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA) is pleased to announce two new additions to its leadership team.

Maureen “Boots” Gifford has joined as Director of Education and Editor-in-Chief of Golf Business magazine. In this role, she will oversee all day-to-day operations of NGCOA’s award-winning publication, including determining all editorial content and managing the magazine’s design. She will also lead all the Association’s education-related activities, including selecting speakers and content for events, webinars and podcasts. NGCOA’s events include the Golf Business Conference, MCO Retreat and Golf Business TechCon.

Prior to joining NGCOA, Gifford was the print editor of the Denver Business Journal, one of the 42 American City Business Journals publications across the country, where she oversaw the weekly newspaper production, along with coordinating all special publications and helping organize special events. Before the Business Journal, Gifford served as managing editor at two community newspapers — the Estes Park Trail Gazette in Colorado and the Havre Daily News in Montana. She started her journalism career as a sports editor and photographer, covering prep and NAIA collegiate sports for seven years. The publications she managed included industry reports, award presentations, and magazines, for which she won many press association awards.

Additionally, Renee Flowers has assumed the role of Director of Marketing and Communications, where she will lead strategy, development and execution of all member and public communications, and print and digital assets related to its events, initiatives, offerings and partnerships.

Renee brings nearly 20 years of marketing communications experience to the NGCOA, mostly within associations and other member-based organizations, including the American Wind Energy Association, the Association for Financial Professionals, the AutoCare Association, and the National Wildlife Federation. In those organizations, she developed and executed all integrated marketing communications activities to increase membership engagement, boost event participation and increase exposure to and perception of their missions.
