Don Rea Joins National Golf Course Owners Association Board of Directors

Charleston, S.C. (Feb. 26, 2016) -- Don Rea, owner of Augusta Ranch Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz., has been named to the board of directors of the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA). The announcement was made earlier this month in San Diego, Calif., at the association’s 2016 Golf Business Conference, held in conjunction with the Golf Industry Show.

"Don brings to the board an unparalleled experience in this industry,” says Jay Karen, NGCOA CEO. “His duty of care for the small operator's success is going to be an asset on our board."

Aside from being a golf course owner, Rea is also a certified PGA Professional in General Management and is a Past President for the Southwest Section PGA. His course has been rated the “Best Executive Golf Course in Arizona” by the Arizona Republic and was selected “Host Club of the Year” by the Arizona Women’s Golf Association.

“I am honored to be elected and proud to serve with such an impressive list of industry leaders,” Rea says. “Owning and operating a par-61 public golf course in the very competitive Phoenix market has given me a wealth of experiences and ‘in the trenches’ wisdom. I look forward to being at the table addressing issues, making tough decisions, and doing what I can to protect and grow our industry for all of those owner/operators I represent.”

Also appointed at the San Diego meeting were David (Rock) Lucas, Charwood Country Club, as President; Dick Stuntz, The Oaks, as Vice President; and Steve Graybill, Foxchase Golf Club, as Secretary.

The annual Golf Business Conference is the golf industry’s largest gathering of owners and operators of daily-fee, private, resort and municipal courses. Next year’s Golf Business Conference will be held Feb. 6-9 in Orlando, Fla.
