2nd Annual Golf Industry Show Service Project to
Aid in the Fight Against Hunger
Partnering associations team up with the San Diego Food Bank
Partnering associations of the Golf Industry Show and show attendees will join forces with the San Diego Food Bank in an effort to feed those in need and give back to the San Diego community.
Currently, there are more than 480,000 people fighting hunger in San Diego County alone.
The San Diego Food Bank provides nearly 24,000 meals a day and feeds over 360,000 people per month. Last year, the food bank distributed 11.2 million pounds of food, the equivalent of 8.75 million.
The ability to feed so many people in the community relies entirely on volunteers, who sort, pack and distribute the food. Those interested in volunteering can sign up for one of two work sessions that will be held on Monday, Feb. 8.

Bins will also be available at the San Diego Convention Center for food items or monetary donations.
At the 2009 Golf Industry Show, held Feb. 5-7 in New Orleans, $10,000 was raised for the New Orleans Habitat for Humanity. Almost 200 volunteers from the trade show worked over two days on the construction of eight new houses in two areas of the city devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
