Water, taxes, and equity top legislative agendas - Chapters across the country brace for an anxious year - With the economy showing signs of weakness heading into 2008, state legislators across the country will be looking to preserve spending levels on those programs they consider crucial. To do that, new or enhanced revenue sources will be needed. Nothing is sacred. Not even activities, like golf, that help take people’s minds off day-to-day economic worries. Throw in issues like water shortages and immigration, and for golf, 2008 could be a year to really keep your head down.

MGCOA - Tee Off Times - It’s interesting when at some point in your life you start to truly appreciate all of the people who have had an impact on the foundation of your life and livelihood. Some lessons were not easy at the time, but in retrospect those decisions offered by others had a major impact on where you are today. There are many who have molded us and many to thank.

MGCOA Property Tax Roundtable 2008 - Join us at Timber Ridge Golf Club. This session will allow the individual course attendee’s to be able to analyze their own course data, to conclude whether or not there may be grounds for a real estate tax appeal. We have developed a fi ll in the blank document for the participants to utilize as a template. You will be led through some of the initial analysis that is utilized to determine the fairness of you properties overall real estate tax assessments.

MGCOA - News of the Midwest Chapter - Winter 07 and Spring 08 - The Minnesota Golf Course Owners Association has agreed to sanction the Minnesota Golf League Championships again this year. In 2007 the Association saw a highly successful “roll out” of this concept to offer your new or existing leagues recognition as Minnesota’s Golf League Champions at a statewide Championship event.

GCOW Spring Newsletter 2008 - I would like to start out by sincerely thanking all of the GCOW owners, Associate Members and guests that attended our GCOW Spring Meeting at the Brookfield Suites on March 18. It was a very informative meeting and it was great to see some new faces in attendance!
